My ancestors were not able to pass down many material things, so instead, they shared stories. I consider these my greatest inheritance. Legacy and Ancestral Memory are a diptych work exploring the knowledge passed down through generations. Combining family photos and papers with medium format film photographs taken on the ancestral lands of my Yakama and Wasco ancestors, this work considers our stories as powerful tools for understanding the past and shaping the future.
